Teamfight Tactics Delivers with a New Anime Fighting Set

Teamfight Tactics (TFT) delivers with Teamfight Tactics: K.O. Coliseum, marking its 15th set as another action-packed update. Champions have been adorned in their anime-themed gear as they battle head-to-head in Whisker’s ultimate anime fighting tournament. This set has all the essential ingredients that make a captivating anime experience, such as magical girls, Shonen fighters, and a Mighty Mech. Players will be immersed in an all-new ultimate anime fighting tournament surrounded by their favorite champions, unique abilities, and powerful upgrades!

In the latest TFT Dev Drop video, Riot Games highlighted exciting gameplay from K.O. Coliseum. This includes strong anime-themed champions, new traits, a new game mechanic, and amazing cosmetics. K.O. Coliseum promises to provide a fun experience for both new and experienced players.

When we asked what inspirations contributed to the choices made for this new set, Lead Set Designer, Michael Sloan, said:

K.O. Coliseum is based on the classic anime tournament arc, and we wanted to make sure we did justice to that concept with a lot of high-energy, high-excitement moments, while also capturing a wide range of tropes and archetypes from the genre we were inspired by. This directly inspired a number of our origins and some individual spell designs, and our set mechanic, Power Ups, aims to capture the fun of watching a cast of characters hone their abilities episode after episode.

Roll Out the Champions

As many Riot gamers know, the champion roster holds great potential for an anime showdown-themed TFT set. We are not disappointed by the list; the nod to the tropes is spot on. With the infamous Star Guardians leader by their side, players can undergo their magical girl transformation, featuring Seraphine in a 5-cost role, with the Ultimate Friendship Bomb spell, which strikes all enemies within a 2-hex radius.

Fans will be excited to hear that Kobuko, a true (and original) TFT legend, returns to the battlefield as a 2-cost Mentor. The other 5-cost champions consist of renowned martial arts master Braum, Gwen, Twisted Fate, Varus, Yone, and Zyra.

Riot pays homage to iconic anime titles and abilities throughout this set. Once again, TFT gives players the proper elements to perform powerful combos and get creative as they tackle their foes and aim to reach new heights! Here are some of the new traits and origins we are excited about that will be included within this set:

The Crew: For every Crew member fielded, they get a health boost and Attack Speed. Every 3-star Crew champion grants additional bonuses. Once enough of them are 3-starred, they will call in their starship to rain down destruction. Surely, Space Cowboys will appreciate this.

Star Guardian: Magical Friendships triumph all! For every Star Guardian in play, they will gain a unique Teamwork Bonus.

Stance Master (5-cost trait only): As a 5-cost Stance Master, Lee Sin has the ability to select a trait that best fits the fight. You can choose from Duelist Stance, Executioner Stance, or Juggernaut Stance, each granting a unique ability that aligns with your selected stance.

Supreme Cells: Become The Supreme Cell once you have delivered the most damage. All Cells gain Damage Amp, but the Supreme gains more and executes enemies under 10% health

Roles & Power Ups

This set will see champion roles being utilized. TFT has revised and leveled up the unit roles mechanic to bring more melee carries to the board. Champions can gain mana differently, depending on their roles within the game. For example, Tanks (units that typically take damage for their team) will generate 5 mana per attack and additional mana from taking damage. Within this role, Tanks also get the spotlight from their opponents, making them more likely to be targeted. Although these adjustments won’t significantly impact anything other than in some instances where splash damage grants the enemy carry extra mana.

Power Snax is a new mechanic that highlights the true champion hero on the battlefield. With Power Snax, players can utilize an arsenal of tailored power-ups for their chosen champion. Of course, every champion arc comes to a close when players get bored or find the next big hero for their game! Power-ups are easy to remove and equip to new champions.

However, it wouldn’t be an epic K.O.Coliseum without a variety. This set brings about 120 new Augments, with 70 being novel content and mechanics. For example, the Tournament Favorites Augument rewards players with loot when their Soul Fighter units demolish opponents. This set offers an exciting mix of surprising twists that both newcomers and seasoned players will want to experience.

A new set means new cosmetics! Exciting new cosmetics are on the way with K.O. Coliseum, and players are sure to enjoy the options, including: Chibi Spirit Blossom Lillia, Prestige Chibi Spirit Blossom Ahri, High Noon Thresh Unbound, and The Veiled Village Arena.

Additionally, the anime theme continues with Portal Skins such as Spirit Springs, The Way of the K.O., God Weapon, Crystal Caress, Portal of the First Star, and Into The Lands Beyond.

The free K.O. Coliseum update hits PBE servers on Tuesday, July 15, and launches on all mobile and PC platforms on Wednesday, July 30. Visit teamfighttactics.leagueoflegends.com for more information and follow @TFT on social media.
