Following the successful launch of Riftbound’s inaugural set, Origins, Riot Games is excited to offer fans a glimpse into what’s on the horizon for early 2026. Riftbound’s upcoming second set, Spiritforged, will introduce an array of new Champions, a new Token type, mechanics, and Equipment. Similar to how items are utilized in League of Legends to boost Champions, players can expect to equip some of their favorite equipment and make their Riftbound experience even more fun!\
“Weapons aren’t just tools, they’re extensions of your Might and soul. The Forged aspect is the steel you wield, while the Spirit represents the Ionia Spirit Bossom, which lifted the veil between the mortal and Spirit realms and made its way home in some of the champions and art for our new set.” – Chengran
“Rule 650: A player may concede … at any time.”
The newly announced Champions include familiar faces like Azir, Draven, Lucian, Irelia, Renata Glasc, Fiora, Rumble, Ezreal, and Sivir.
The Equipment showcases items that League players will surely recognize, such as the Long Sword, Doran’s Shield, Guardian Angel, Sterak’s Gage, Svellsongur, Trinity Force, and Blade of the Ruined King. Going by these card descriptions, this new set seems designed to enhance gameplay and strategy in Riftbound.
Spiritforged will build upon Origins in every way, starting with three new mechanics:
- Equipment: This new card subtype is the main new mechanic in Spiritforged. Equipment can be attached to units to make them stronger, and they remain in play even if that unit is killed.
- Gold: Gold tokens are featured by Draven. You can “spend” them to get the Power resource, which is a required cost to play some cards.
- Repeat: Spells with effects that can be doubled if you pay their cost a second time.
Collectors, this one’s for you! In addition to this latest collection, 12 Spirit Blossom Overnumbered cards will be available. There are also clues in the artwork that suggest the potential arrival of future champions, such as Viego.
