This August, Hip Hop Comix N Flix is set to release Spoof Streetz, a new comic book by award-winning filmmaker and writer Jeff Carroll. This bold anthology delivers short, hilarious Hip Hop-themed parodies that riff on pop culture, viral trends, blockbuster films, and internet gossip—all through a Black and POC lens.
Inspired by genre trailblazers like MAD Magazine, Wild ’N Out, and Chappelle’s Show, Spoof Streetz blends sharp satire with progressive cultural analysis. “I wanted to bring Hip Hop-styled comedy to comics,” says Carroll. “After a funny story in CyberFunk Streetz got strong reactions, I knew I had something.”
Carroll is no stranger to genre storytelling. He’s released horror (Horror Streetz), crime, sci-fi, and now comedy anthologies—all continuing the legacy of genre comics that boomed in the 1940s and ’50s with bold, socially aware storytelling.
