Magic: The Gathering fans came together for MagicCon: Las Vegas, taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from May 1 to May 3. The event quickly sold out and brought in a lively mix of fans, collectors, cosplayers, and game enthusiasts. Thousands joined in for gameplay and competitive events, enjoyed insightful panels, met talented artists, and participated in a range of paid and free activities.
After attending MagicCon: Las Vegas last year, I was eager to see how Wizards of the Coast would up the game for 2026. I think it’s safe to say that neither were the attendees, with the incredible turnout, variety of activities, and zones. The Art of Magic continues to be a hot spot at MagicCon, where attendees can meet official Magic artists, buy merchandise, get commissions such as custom Magic tokens, and have their favorite cards signed.
MagicCon highlights the beloved trading card game and its dedicated community. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned veteran, MagicCon offers a little something for everyone, ensuring a memorable experience.
Beyond the Cards
At the Preview Panel, they unveiled exciting new sets for Magic: The Gathering. Upcoming sets include Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes, Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit, and Magic: The Gathering | Reality Fracture. For Marvel Super Heroes, artwork for the new Vision and Mind Stone cards was revealed, with special guest Paul Bettany.
Designers talked about what to expect, revealing cards, illustrations, and more. Throughout the convention weekend, congoers could participate in various activities. Attendees enjoyed Magic: The Gathering-themed mini-golf, an FBLTHP scavenger hunt, and time with cats at the Cat Lair. The convention floor offered plenty of opportunities to create memories, with photo ops featuring fan-favorite cards scattered throughout.
Additionally, there was an area staged specifically for the newest set, Magic: The Gathering | Secrets of Strixhaven. Here, attendees could complete activities such as homework assignments that reflect what Strixhaven College students would be involved in. After completing the homework, we received college pins as a cool souvenir of the experience.
Furthermore, we loved the convention layout and enjoyed the lively crowds at the Mana Stage and playing tables. Attendees shared in the thrill of opening packs, discovering epic Mythic cards, and winning games. MagicCon goes beyond the cards. Designed for fans and enthusiasts, the convention considers every decision and detail that reflects the experience.
