Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Lestat” Has Fans Screaming At SDCC

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) took place last weekend, from Wednesday, July 23, to Sunday, July 27. Known as the ultimate event for fans, this annual convention showcases a wide range of genres and artistic expressions. Its main purpose is to celebrate comics while highlighting the latest trends in pop culture, including film, television, gaming, sci-fi, and fantasy literature. One franchise that garnered significant attention was AMC Networks’ Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Fans were excited during the Ballroom 20 panel on Saturday, July 26, where they anticipated insights into The Vampire Lestat, following the Talamasca panel from Anne Rice’s universe.

Holbrook began a conversation about The Vampire Lestat, revealing the new name for season three of Interview with the Vampire, drawing inspiration from Anne Rice’s novel. The panel included Johnson, showrunner and executive producer Rolin Jones, composer Daniel Hart, and cast members Sam Reid (Lestat de Lioncourt), Jacob Anderson (Louis de Pointe du Lac), and Eric Bogosian, who all shared insights about the new season.

Attendees were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at The Vampire Lestat, unveiling new photos of the rockstar Lestat and exciting casting news. Fans were excited to hear that Delainey Hayles and Assad Zaman would be returning for season three. Joining the cast are Jennifer Ehle (Lioness), who will play the role of Lestat’s mother, Gabriella, Ella Ballentine (Black Conflux), cast as Baby Jenks, Jeanine Serralles (Apples Never Fall), taking on the role of Christine Claire, Christopher Heyerdahl (Under the Banner of Heaven), portraying Marius, and Damien Atkins (Slings & Arrows), who will play Lestat’s maker, Magnus.

Over the course of two seasons, Interview with the Vampire has garnered a dedicated following of passionate fans and received widespread critical acclaim. It notably achieved an impressive 98-point score on Rotten Tomatoes for both its inaugural and second seasons. The series has also earned nominations for various awards, including the Emmys, GLAAD Media Awards, Gold Derby TV Awards, and Critics’ Choice Super Awards, among others. The upcoming season, titled *The Vampire Lestat*, is being executive produced by the award-winning producer Johnson, alongside creator, writer, and showrunner Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice.
