A First Look At Anne Rice’s “Talamasca: The Secret Order”

San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) happened last weekend, running from Wednesday, July 23, to Sunday, July 27. Renowned as the ultimate gathering for fans, this annual convention highlights a variety of genres and artistic forms. Its primary aim is to celebrate and showcase comics alongside the latest developments in pop culture, including movies, television, gaming, sci-fi and fantasy literature, and beyond. One franchise that drew considerable interest was AMC Networks’ Anne Rice Immortal Universe. During the Ballroom 20 panel on Saturday, July 26, the Talamasca from Anne Rice’s universe took to the stage.

The panel included Executive Producer Mark Johnson, who oversees the Anne Rice Immortal Universe; Showrunners and Executive Producers John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty; and series stars Nicholas Denton (“Guy Anatole”), William Fichtner (“Jasper”), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (“Olive”), and Celine Buckens (“Doris”).

The panel gave fans an exclusive reveal of the official teaser trailer, a glimpse into a scene from the premiere episode, an announcement of the premiere date for the show to be debuted on Sunday, October 26, at 9 pm ET/PT, and a surprise guest appearance from Eric Bogosian. Fans already familiar with Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe were thrilled to see the actor who portrays the sharp-witted journalist and author of Interview with a Vampire, “Daniel Molloy,” along with the announcement that his character will be stepping into the new Talamasca series.

During the sunny Friday afternoon, I received a card from the Talamasca crew while walking through Gaslamp. Their cards deliver a single message with the underside printed with a QR code.

Developed by AMC Studios, “Anne Rice’s Talamasca” centers on a secret organization known as the Talamasca, which consists of individuals tasked with monitoring and managing witches, vampires, and other supernatural beings around the world. The series is executive produced by Academy Award®-nominated Hancock (famous for “The Blind Side”) and Lafferty (known for “The Right Stuff,” “Halt and Catch Fire”), who also share co-showrunner duties. The production team includes award-winning producer Johnson, Tom Williams, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice, with Hancock taking on directing responsibilities as well.
