Cult sci-fi franchise expands with hard-to-find stories, including “The Roswell Incident” and rarely seen artwork from pop art superstar L’Amour Supreme
LOS ANGELES, CA — Cult comic franchise Zen Intergalactic Ninja continues building momentum following the successful Kickstarter campaign for ZEN: Bounty Wars Issue #3, the latest installment in an ambitious four-part storyline introducing the legendary sci-fi hero to a new generation of readers.
Created by Steve Stern and artist Dan Cote, Zen Intergalactic Ninja follows a genetically engineered ninja bounty hunter navigating a dangerous universe filled with alien warlords, rogue technology, intergalactic criminals, and mystical threats.
Originally launched in 1987, the franchise built a passionate cult following through comic books, video games, action figures, and international licensing opportunities. Today, the focus is firmly on expanding the property for modern audiences.
Zen Intergalactic Ninja is published by 1First Comics, founded by Ken F. Levin, who also serves as Executive Producer of Amazon Prime’s hit series The Boys.
“Zen has always stood apart because it never fit neatly into one genre,” said Ken F. Levin. “It blends science fiction, action, humor, and mythology in a way that feels just as original today as it did when audiences first discovered it. We believe there’s tremendous future potential for the brand.”
The franchise’s next major milestone will be Zen: Alternate Visions, a massive 240-page collection featuring some of the rarest and most unusual stories ever created within the Zen universe.
The anthology also features a cover by Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy, and is edited and co-published by Robert V. Conte, whose credits include serving as catalog consultant for legendary rock group KISS.
“Working with KISS taught me the value of iconic characters and passionate fan communities,” said Robert V. Conte. “Zen has that same larger-than-life DNA. Zen: Alternate Visions is packed with rare stories and artwork that remind you why this character deserves an even bigger spotlight.”
With audiences increasingly embracing genre-blending properties like The Mandalorian and Invincible, Stern feels that Zen is positioned for significant new growth. “It’s all about honoring his legacy while aggressively expanding the universe for new fans. This will also include ZEN MANGA, which will be released next year, on the occasion of Zen’s fortieth anniversary.”
