THE 1910 LA TIMES BUILDING BOMBING In the early morning hours of October 1, 1910 (around 1:07 a.m.), a suitcase bomb containing 16 sticks of dynamite connected to a wind-up alarm clock detonated in “Ink Alley,” a narrow passageway next to the three-story LA Times building. The domestic act of terrorism resulted in numerous casualties. There is an old-time radio episode of the popular police procedural CALLING ALL CARS series that recounts the tragic incident, including the hunt for the bombers and the ensuing legal battle that followed. The episode is titled THE TIMES BOMBING CASE, and runs for approximately thirty minutes. Fortunately, the engrossing episode survives to this day and is available for listening on YouTube, old-time radio apps, and other venues. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
