Salt City Comic Con organizers announced today with deep regret that the convention scheduled for July 4th and 5th at the Expo Center on the New York State Fairgrounds has been canceled. The event will return to the Expo Center from July 3rd and 4th, 2021. Convention organizers are also pursuing potential options for a “scaled-down” event in fall 2020 if gathering and event restrictions are lifted and safety measures for all attendees, guests and exhibitors can properly be put in place and executed.
Recognizing that Salt City Comic Con is the largest Pop Culture event in Central New York and many attendees plan ahead for the event, as well as many exhibitors rely on Cons for their livelihood, Salt City Comic Con had hoped the concerns regarding COVID-19 might lessen by July. Salt City Comic Con has monitored health advisories and recent statements by New York State and it has become clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans for the event.
Salt City Comic Con is also announcing that attendees and exhibitors who purchased tickets, merchandise or booth space for 2020 will automatically receive a refund within the next two weeks. No further action is required, all transactions and purchases will automatically be credited.
“The safety of everyone involved with Salt City Comic Con, attendees, guests, workers is vital, and right now given the situation we cannot safely move forward,” said Thomas Yeldon, Founder of Salt City Comic Con. “As much as we need some fun and a distraction from all of this we have to wait. We look forward to getting past this and coming together to celebrate pop culture and the community we love in the future”
