Comments: An assistant in a chemistry lab starts experimenting with Monocaine. The man continues his experiments on a rat, and the rat changes. Its pigment fades away until it is invisible, and it also increases in intelligence. Yes, you can feel the buildup leading up to what is yet to come.
This man stays in the background as his two associates have their own work. He is quiet and does nothing to attract attention. It is easy to see he is not of a fully sane mind. He is a quiet man. Flora, the Doctor’s daughter from the lab, has a crush on him. She mentions his name, it’s Jack, Jack Griffin.
The experimental rat has not only become more intelligent, but it has also become more violent.
This issue spends a lot of time building up suspense for what is yet to come in future issues. You can feel the terror around Jack as he understands more and more what a human being could do with this power and how it could be used as a way to show superiority over your fellow man.
You should fear the coming of the Invisible Man.
