Comments: Odessa, Ukraine where Aron lives. We are given a look at what it was like growing up here and what it was like for Jews with the Nazi’s invading.
The Odessa Massacre happened. Here you are shown being mistreated for no other reason than that they are Jews. This book describes how Jews were treated and it is heartbreaking. The way they were was sadistic and inhuman.
Aron had so many hardships to go through. No child should have to go through what he did. To survive it showed just how strong he was.
One thing that makes this story really stand out is that it was real.
The art illustrates the horrors of war and discrimination by bringing it across through the people you see. The people make this book a thing you will want to see. The pictures though do show a sad world.
Aron lived through so much.
There is tons of historical data after Aron’s story. If you’re a history buff you will love this or if you just love a well-told true story with wonderful illustrations.
