Comments: Lenny Klein is a man who was doing good and life was ok then things changed and his life started to spiral down. He loses everything and his life is bad.
So Lenny knows Jake and Jake now has a chance to do the right thing. Jake does do the right thing yet he is unsure and afraid. He does it to help his friend and maybe a bit too cause it is the right thing to do.
You do learn a small amount about Jewish tradition here.
The Jewish community is having a parade and for some reason, raising an Israeli flag is forbidden by the city council.
Some words used are ones only Jewish people would probably understand. It would be nice to have a word box explaining what they mean. In the back of the book is a glossary for all the Hebrew and Yiddish words.
The art illustrates the Star of David very well. The characters look just like any ordinary people would.
Jake’s thoughts are an insightful look at how one might think doing the right thing yet still wondering if it is right and thinking about how his religion is affected by his actions as well. Jake is made to realize the hard way that his actions have consequences. These consequences can extend beyond him as well.
The hard-hitting world of crime steps up here with Jake on the receiving end.
