Comments: Briar Rose has changed dramatically from who she was before she fell asleep. She is almost unrecognizable from the girl she used to be. The scene of the castle toppling is particularly strong. It is a striking moment, and the fight between Grendrid and Spider carries real emotional weight. Briar Rose and her allies storm the castle of Grendrid. Roop, now the new King of Hell, has become powerful beyond expectations. The battle is fierce, but it ultimately comes down to mother versus daughter, Grendrid versus Briar Rose. Both are armed with swords and fight with the intent to kill. Briar Rose’s blood was said to be cursed, yet it proves to be a blessing. As Sleeping Beauty, she is a hero who fights for the world and to protect her friends. She has the heart of a warrior. Spider loved her, and the two shared moments of happiness in an otherwise bleak world. Briar brings hope back into that world. The final clash between Briar and Grendrid shows how evenly matched they are. It takes everything Briar has to stand against her. She fights with courage and determination. After all she has endured, Briar Rose has earned her rest, or perhaps a long and well-deserved sleep.
