In honor of Lou Ferrigno’s visit to Legends Comics and Games Fresno (He did a signing at its Clovis, CA location) I will look at Web of Spider-Man # 7 which has the Incredible Hulk on the cover, but get ready for one of the most unusual stories to ever grace a Marvel comic story (It’s not the “Assistant Editor’s Month” event if anyone remembers that); Spider-Man is summoned by Nightmare to his nightmare realm to stop the rampaging Hulk. Will Peter Parker ever wake up from his nightmare?

I have to say that this issue was a complete chore to read with the whole nightmare aspect going all over the place because it felt as if it would never stop until the end; The Hulk being used in this story is a nice touch (It made for a cool cover) and the continuity factor tied it together with the events in the Hulk’s title (Doctor Strange banished him after he completely went berserk) Yes this issue was written by Peter David who was at the beginning on his writing career. Still, from the way this story was conceived, he did the best he could even though he got better with time but I have also to point out how annoying Nightmare is as a villain; He has no redeeming qualities like the classic villains such as Doctor Doom or Kang The Conquerer so it’s no wonder he was barely used after this issue came out. Overall, it’s a weird thing that this issue exists but if anyone gets the chance to read it, go into it with an open mind and be grateful that you got to the ending while getting hyped to read the next issue. But the most memorable thing about this issue? the cover…….’nuff said!

Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
