This week, I explore the second issue of “Capes” from Image Comics. The city’s most dangerous supervillains have escaped prison, and now it’s personal for Bolt! Similar to the previous issue, this story continues to blend the superhero workweek concept with a creative twist, adding a whimsical feel that’s both charming and compelling. From Captain Cosmic being stranded in another dimension due to some form of Dimensional Displacement and seeking back pay, to Kid Thor showing a hint of romantic interest in Knockout, Kirkman skillfully manages multiple plotlines, making for an engaging read. Bolt, as the main hero, truly embodies his heroic spirit, especially when outsmarting a Hulk-like villain called Doc Cancer and another villain named Vault (think an evil version of Iron Man). These elements highlight the series’s satire and humor, blending into a winning mix. Longtime fans, who have followed this series since 2011, will enjoy the recurring fun, even as the “been there, done that” aspect emerges. Despite this, Capes remains a strong contender as an exciting addition to the Invincible Universe.

Well, that’s it for me. Thanks for sticking around, and I look forward to seeing you all next time.
