Mike Baron and Pat Broderick team up for Bronze Star, an old-school, violent, and gritty “weird western” elevated to a terrifying love story coming to Kickstarter. Mike was nice enough to stop by First Comics News to let our readers know all about Bronze Star.

First Comics News: Who is Harley Brogden?

Mike Baron: Harley Brogden former Confederate, rode with Quantrill’s Raiders, quit in disgust, and went west shooting game for the army and gambling.

1^st: What is Harley’s world like?

Mike: Hot, dusty, wind-swept, lonely, long stretches of boredom punctuated by an intense card game.

1^st: As a Confederate, how did he end up out west shooting game for the Union army?

Mike: It’s a skill he could market.

1^st: Harley is a werewolf?

Mike: NO. HARLEY IS NOT THE WEREWOLF.

1^st: Is he the only supernatural character in the comic?

Mike: Harley is not supernatural. The sheriff of Cobb’s Gap is the werewolf. Nor is he the only supernatural character.

1^st: Who is Wilfred Knoor?

Mike: Wilfrid is a wealthy and unscrupulous landowner. We’ve seen his type before. Shane.

1^st: Why does Wilfred want to kill Harley?

Mike: Harley killed Wilfrid’s son Brad in self-defense. Wilfrid doesn’t care.

1^st: What is Cobbs Gap?

Mike: A former mining town at the base of the Canadian Rockies in Calgary.

1^st: How does Harley get along with the Indians?

Mike: These Canadian Indians have yet to experience the racism and cruelty that marked so many encounters. Thus, if you respect them, they will respect you.

1^st: Which Indian tribe is in the comic?

Mike: Cree

1^st: When does the Kickstarter begin?

Mike: June 3

1^st: What is the minimum pledge for a digital copy of Bronz Star?

Mike: Ten bucks
