Jason saved the world when he was twelve. It’s been all downhill ever since.

LONG AGO & FAR AWAY
Returns with Son of Elvenwood (Part 1)
This December
Chris Mancini and Fernando Pinto take Jason from reluctant hero to reluctant father in the next chapter of the fantasy series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OCT. 22, 2026 (PORTLAND, OR) — Jason saved the world when he was twelve. Now he has to deal with something he never saw coming: FATHERHOOD!

White Cat Entertainment returns to Elvenwood with LONG AGO & FAR AWAY 2: SON OF ELVENWOOD (PART 1), the next chapter of its irreverent comedy fantasy series, written by Chris Mancini, illustrated and covered by Fernando Pinto, and lettered by Troy Peteri.

In Volume 1, Jason spent his time chasing the adventure that made him a legend at twelve. He found his way back to Elvenwood, but you can’t relive your childhood forever. In Volume 2, the fantasy gets a lot less nostalgic: Jason has to grow up, and Elvenwood has a spectacularly messy way of making sure he does…

The direct sequel to Long Ago and Far Away, Son of Elvenwood picks up five years after the events of Long Ago and Far Away. As a result of Jason’s… adventure… with the Witch Queen, he now has a son, and since time passes differently in Elvenwood, the son, Lord Stone, is about 20 years older than Jason. Lord Stone is pretty angry at being abandoned by his father, and in a moment of acting out, brought the deadly northern Necromancers down on Elvenwood.

For Chris Mancini, the return to Elvenwood is another step in a story built to grow alongside its hero.

“I always wanted to set up the Long Ago and Far Away series as a fantasy mirror for the different stages of our lives,” said Mancini. “Volume 1 deals with the end of childhood, and Volume 2 deals with moving forward and starting a family of your own. Of course, that gets complicated when there’s a horde of bloodthirsty Necromancers on your tail. So expect bigger, more sweeping conflicts, more personal stakes, and a bit more (sort of) maturity.”

Artist Fernando Pinto is ready to put that maturity to the test.

“Becoming a functioning adult is never easy, especially when you have a whole kingdom depending on you… Again!” said Pinto. “If you thought you knew what Long Ago and Far Away had to offer, strap in because now we get crazier, funnier, scarier, and zombier (Is that a word?) this time around.”

With the greatest adventure of his life behind him, Jason must face a future he can’t retreat from. Son of Elvenwood keeps the series’ humor and fantasy adventure while taking him into a messier, more personal stage of life.
