A new generation of the Styles family has officially arrived in TNA.
Avery Styles, the 19-year-old son of WWE Hall of Famer and TNA legend AJ Styles, has signed with TNA Wrestling. The announcement came Sunday night during TNA Lockdown in Chicago, where Avery was introduced as “The Phenomenal Son” and officially revealed that he had joined the company.
The signing is a significant moment for both Avery Styles and TNA. Before becoming one of WWE’s biggest stars, AJ Styles established himself as one of the defining performers in TNA’s history. Now, more than two decades after his father’s TNA debut, Avery has the opportunity to begin building his own legacy with the same promotion.
AJ Styles’ connection with TNA runs deep. He was one of the company’s foundational stars during its formative years, competing in the X Division and eventually becoming a multiple-time TNA World Champion and Tag Team Champion. His time in TNA helped establish him as one of professional wrestling’s elite performers long before his arrival in WWE.
Avery now enters TNA with an enormous family legacy behind him, but also with the opportunity to prove himself on his own.
The young wrestler made his professional wrestling debut in June 2026 and quickly began working throughout the independent wrestling scene. His early appearances included Game Changer Wrestling, where he received considerable attention for his performances and for the obvious expectations that come with being the son of AJ Styles.
Natalya, who watched Avery compete at GCW, has already praised the young wrestler’s potential, describing him and fellow young wrestler Marcus Mathers as impressive performers with considerable passion for wrestling.
Avery’s rapid rise has not come without controversy.
Earlier this month, independent wrestler Arik Cannon publicly criticized Avery over an incident at a GCW event, alleging that the young wrestler had not helped with setup duties. The comments ignited a larger debate about whether second-generation wrestlers should have to “pay their dues” in exactly the same manner as wrestlers without famous family connections.
AJ Styles strongly defended his son, explaining that Avery had been booked to wrestle and was not hired as part of the ring crew. The controversy eventually drew comments from a number of wrestling personalities, including Cody Rhodes and Natalya.
Rather than derailing Avery’s momentum, the controversy arguably put an even brighter spotlight on him.
Now that spotlight has moved to TNA.
Avery’s TNA debut announcement also immediately established a potential storyline.
After Avery announced his signing, Frankie Kazarian interrupted him. Kazarian recalled his longstanding friendship with AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels, explaining that they had essentially grown up together in the wrestling business and had poured their hearts into TNA.
But Kazarian’s message wasn’t simply one of congratulations.
He warned Avery that there are people in the TNA locker room who cannot be trusted because of the name he carries. Kazarian told the young Styles that while there may be plenty of “snakes” waiting for him, he could always trust Kazarian.
That exchange immediately gives TNA an intriguing direction for Avery. Is Kazarian genuinely looking out for AJ’s son, or does he have another motive?
The biggest challenge facing Avery Styles will be escaping the shadow of his famous father.
Being the son of AJ Styles guarantees attention, but it also guarantees comparison. AJ became known as “The Phenomenal One” through years of extraordinary performances across TNA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Ring of Honor and WWE.
Avery has only just begun his career.
At 19, he has plenty of time to develop his own wrestling style, personality and identity. His signing with TNA gives him something many young wrestlers spend years trying to obtain: a major platform on which to learn and grow.
TNA also gives the company a unique opportunity.
The promotion helped turn AJ Styles into a star. Now it can help introduce the next Styles generation to wrestling fans.
Whether Avery ultimately becomes “The Phenomenal Son” simply because of his family name, or develops a reputation that belongs entirely to him, will be one of the more interesting stories to watch as his career develops.
For now, however, one thing is official:
A Styles is back in TNA.
And this time, his first name is Avery.
