The pages are filled with quotes and insights from Stan Lee, the co-creator of Daredevil. Alongside artist Bill Everett, they brought the blind superhero to life in the Marvel Universe. In April 1964, Marvel released the first issue of Daredevil. The creators were inspired by the idea of a lawyer who develops heightened senses after losing his sight.

“A blind lawyer named Matt Murdock, who was the world’s greatest and most agile crime-fighting gymnast … It was the red-letter day for all of fandom.” – Stan Lee

The book spans 180 pages and covers a range of topics related to Daredevil and his history. In the second chapter, titled “The Costume,” we explore the character’s original outfit, which features a combination of yellow, black, and red. The chapter offers an in-depth examination of various other costumes, highlighting the artists behind them, and explains how Daredevil ultimately became iconic with his striking, all-red costume adorned with the iconic “DD” logo on his chest. Additionally, this chapter highlights Wallace (Wally) Wood, the legendary EC creator, alongside various Daredevil concepts from covers spanning 1964 to 2023.

“The intent for Daredevil and his alter ego Matt Murdock was to be a powerful metaphor for justice itself.” (Chapter 1, pg 9)
