Comments: A man and a young woman are walking through a post-apocalyptic world. They keep moving forward until the man senses danger. The woman, Violet, is his daughter, and he knows something is close. The way the danger is handled makes you want to run and hide, too. The threat is hinted at, but never fully revealed. From the way they talk about it, you know it is something they truly fear. This father and daughter are very close. They love each other deeply, and they share a sense of loss. Now, the two of them must fight for their lives. Marauders are one threat, but there is something else out there, some kind of beings. What they are is uncertain. They seem like survivors of some kind, but what they want remains a mystery. The art is beautifully done. The characters appear rough and battle-worn, fitting the harsh world they inhabit. The mysterious beings carry a genuinely frightening presence. This issue delivers a story that feels like a horror tale, while also offering strong elements of adventure. You will be rooting for the father and daughter to somehow survive this living nightmare.
