Comments: Trumpf is furious and out for blood. Both the Republic of Quebec and Djustin Druteau have incurred his wrath, and Trumpf declares war on Quebec. It’s easy to see that Trumpf is a complete nutcase, and here he is presented in a darkly humorous way. He is depicted with a swastika on his forehead, with the Ku Klux Klan standing behind him, reinforcing his portrayal as a power-mad extremist. There is a beautifully illustrated, full-colour two-page spread showcasing Trumpf and his closest advisors. The black-and-white artwork effectively brings the characters to life, emphasizing Trumpf’s foolishness. Yet, despite being portrayed as an idiot, he is still the President, and later the Supreme Ruler of the Fascist States of America. Trumpf is presented with humour, but also with a sense of realism. He is a warmonger who despises Djustin Druteau and wants him dead. In contrast, Djustin Druteau is shown as a tough, determined figure, someone ready to fight for his country and his beliefs. He comes across as a heroic figure in the face of tyranny. If you’re looking for a comic that offers a satirical take on the man running the U.S.A., this one delivers an exaggerated yet pointed look at just how unhinged Trumpf is portrayed to be.
