THE COLLECTED SPECIAL EDITION OF YOR: THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE!
Hello! My name is Joeming Dunn, and I run Antarctic Press–a small, independent comic publisher founded in 1984. I’ve been collecting comics since 1974, and over the past forty years, I believe Antarctic Press has published some of the best indie comics out there, including long-running favorites like Gold Digger and Ninja High School.
To keep pace with the ever-changing comics industry, we’ve turned to Kickstarter to help us bring innovative and experimental projects to life.
In 2024, we proudly released four issues of YOR: THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE–not a new adaptation of the Reb Brown cult movie, but the original classic graphic novel that inspired the film! (Yes, the one credited during the movie’s opening sequence, as Yor stalks prehistoric beasts across a primeval landscape.)
Originally serialized in the early 1970s in the legendary Argentine magazine Skorpio, Yor the Hunter was written by Ray Collins (the pen name of Eugenio Juan Zappietro) and illustrated by the incomparable Juan Zanotto. The series became a sensation across Europe for its lush artwork and daring storytelling.
This is a beautifully drawn pulp adventure on par with the great barbarian sagas–but richer, deeper, and far more ambitious than the cult film could ever be.
Set in the Neolithic Era, YOR battles dinosaurs, rival tribes, monsters, and the mysteries of his own origin. If you know the movie, you already suspect the twist (it’s right there in the title!), but if you’ve only seen the film–prepare YORself for revelations that will blow your mind.
Amid the dino-slaying and cave-warrior action, the story delves into identity, faith, destiny, and the search for belonging–brought to life through Zanotto’s sweeping artwork reminiscent of Savage Sword of Conan and the best of Warren magazines.
The first issue introduces Yor’s world, where he challenges a false god and meets his fiery companion Ka-Laa–their relationship starts prickly and evolves in unexpected ways. Fans of the movie will recognize familiar faces and set pieces, but the comic dives deeper, unbound by the limitations of early ’80s filmmaking. Reading Yor is like watching the 90’s Conan the Barbarian TV series–and then discovering the stories by Robert E. Howard!.
If you like your fantasy heroic, introspective, and steeped in retro sci-fi mystique, then YOR’S THE MAN!

For this campaign, we plan to compile the entire YOR series into one volume as both a softcover and a special HARDCOVER Edition.
