Emperor Aquaman #15 arrived on Wednesday, March 11th, launching Arthur Curry on a journey fueled by Omega Energy, the essence of conquest.

JEREMY ADAMS TAKES ARTHUR CURRY ‘WHERE NO AQUAMAN HAS GONE BEFORE’
Aquaman has really come alive these days. He used to be the subject of ridicule, and now he’s large and in charge! I mean, I remember when people used to fight to NOT dress up like Aquaman. This should see a change in that.
It makes a lot of sense to promote the King of the Seas to be the King of the Blue, or a force of nature. After all, we’ve seen Aquaman in the most recent status quo literally for decades. It’s time for a change! And Mr. Adams is just the guy to make it happen and happen well!
I mean, Aquaman has always had a closer relationship with nature than, say, Namor has been in Marvel. Yes, Namor has been in command of Atlantis, but he’s been in and out of office, depending on the decade.
To make Aquaman even more powerfully aligned with nature and the seas is a logical next step up. It’s going to require a serious improvement when it comes to who he fights, of course, but villains have a nasty habit of following suit when a good guy rises up.
Mr. Adams has proven again and again that he can write adventure and adventurers like few others can these days. I mean, I’ve enjoyed his previous Aquaman stories, but I’m really excited to see what happens next! He’s also written Flash Gordon and other heroes just as strongly, but an emperor? I am truly looking forward to that!

By the way, one of my favorite sequences in the issue is when young Arthur encounters his future self. Then the “senior” Aquaman can’t help but laugh when he discovers his younger self at that point actually cannot swim. It reminded me of the Aquaman from the Batman: The Brave and the Bold animated series. He had quite the loud laugh then!
It would be interesting to see Emperor Aquaman now take on Hawkman, who showed some link to the sky and birds in the past.
NOW WHAT?
I always have to wonder what this means for his ongoing series of comics. Will he take on more widespread problems like pollution or the people who inhabit the land masses on Earth.
Will his foes also increase their abilities? Ocean Master will likely have to increase what his suit does to help him get the best of the new emperor. Or will the Trench, a monstrous species from the depths of the ocean, find new ways to vex Aquaman? Then, too, Ocean Master, Aquaman’s half-brother, will have to juice up his outfit and other weapons to stand up to the new emperor.
The good news is that Jeremy Adams is the best guy to tell Aquaman’s tales in the coming months. I am very anxious to see just what Mr. Adams has in mind!
