This playful new twist on fractured fairytales launches this December from Image Comics.
In The Princess Murders, a princess has been murdered and it’s up to her wicked stepsister and fairy Godmother to catch the killer. A Snow White Slasher! Sleeping Beauty Giallo! The Princess Murders combines the self-aware cheek of films like Enchanted and the Barbiemovie and pushes them into the magical realm of campy horror.
“Tim and I knew we wanted to make another series together, we just couldn’t land on what that would be,” said Fleecs. “We bounced around a bunch of ideas and nothing really sparked until Tim manipulated me by just smooshing two of my favorite things together. He said, ‘What if we did an Animated Princess Giallo?’ Immediately I saw what this could be and, just like when I had the idea for Stray Dogs, I knew Tim and I were specifically the people who had to make this book—the guy who made Hack/Slashand the guy from Stray Dogs? With colors by the genius colorist behind Marvel’s Spinstress? That’s who you want making your Animated Princess Slasher comic.”
The Princess Murders has all the makings to be one of the most buzzed about new series to wrap up 2026 and lead fans into 2027 on a high note. Here Fleecs leverages similar viral marketing potential to his previous sales hits Stray Dogs and Feral yet again with a series rife with opportunity for easter eggs, homage variants, character cameos, and innuendo.
