When was the last time you backed a campaign? Today, I am going to do something I haven’t done in a while and spotlight some fantastic campaigns. And, how do I know they are fantastic? Because, at some point, each was a guest on the podcast sometime in the past.
Let’s start off with one, t where you only have a few days to back! Corrisa Grant’s Worthy Chaos: Devastation continues
to carve out its own lane in the indie scene, blending supernatural action, Western grit, and monster‑hunting mayhem into a series that feels tailor‑made for fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. Issue #5 pushes the world even further, delivering a fast, creature‑packed chapter that leans into everything readers have been loving about the series.
Set in the 1880s, the story follows Seraphina and Draven — descendants of angels and demons — who’ve taken on the role of supernatural hunters in a frontier where cryptids roam freely, and nothing stays dead for long. Their mission isn’t just to track monsters but to study them, gather ingredients, and survive long enough to report their findings. That twist gives the book a fun, almost field‑journal energy, even as the threats escalate.
The latest issue, #5, is fully completed, continuing the series’ momentum and expanding its mythology without losing the charm that hooked readers in the first place. For fans of supernatural Westerns, monster lore, or anything that mixes action with a bit of dark fun, Worthy Chaos: Devastation remains one of the most energetic indie series on the trail.
Next is a creator I have been following for a few years, Jon Dexter, whose indie comics include Alpha Dogs, Dime‑Store Detective, and Space Cruisin’. Dexter is signed with Source Point Press and has earned recognition outside of comics as well, becoming a two‑time Academy Awards screenplay contest semi‑finalist for his script The Weeping Trees. That storytelling pedigree shows — Alpha Dogs blends action, heart, and high‑concept sci‑fi with the confidence of a creator who knows exactly the story he wants to tell.
And, Alpha Dogs introduces readers to Buck, a dog gifted with rapid healing, enhanced strength, and a level of intelligence that makes him as capable as any human hero. Despite being feared because of his size and breed, Buck is driven by one instinct above all else: protecting the people and animals he cares about. That loyalty becomes the emotional backbone of the series.
Buck’s world is anything but safe. He and his owner, Ina, have spent years on the run alongside a grizzled old pit bull who shares Buck’s extraordinary abilities. Their pursuers are Black Rock, a ruthless mercenary cabal obsessed with capturing the dogs and exploiting their powers for profit. That constant threat gives the book a tense, hunted energy that keeps the story moving.
The danger escalates when Salem, a brilliant but morally broken bio‑engineer, uses Buck’s blood to create his own pack of super‑powered dogs. His revenge mission puts Buck directly in the crosshairs, along with three other dogs pulled into the conflict: Tomko the chihuahua, Shelby the cocker spaniel, and Zahara the Siberian husky. Each brings a different personality and dynamic to the story, giving the series a surprising emotional range.
Next up is Alim Leggett, whom I recently had on the podcast to talk about Sweet Pea. Over on Kickstarter, The Diary of Sweet Pea: Deadly Winds marks the long‑awaited return to Leggett’s original series, and it picks up with emotional force. This chapter pushes Imani into her most personal struggle yet, forcing her to confront the truth she’s been refusing to face — that her father is gone, and the grief she’s been outrunning is finally catching up. The supernatural tension and character‑driven storytelling that defined the early issues return here with sharper focus and higher stakes.
There you go—three fantastic campaigns to support some fantastic creators. When was the last time you backed a campaign? No better time than now with these!
