THE WHIZ KIDS ARE BACK!
Originally introduced 25 years ago as the kid sidekicks of the Round Table of America in the seminal CRISS-CROSS CRISIS (Big Bang Comics # 6, Image Comics, Nov. 1996), this pastiche of a teen heroes group -Kid Galahad, Cyclone, Moray- created by Gary Carlson & Chris Ecker, returned in their 80’s incarnation with new members -Sheborg, Totem, Black Power, Gargoyla- during the Time Bomb/Savage Dragon Saga (Big Bang Comics # 33) and even starred in their own WHIZ KIDS Special (Image Comics April 2003) with the group written by Ed DeGeorge and pencilled by future super-star artist Chris Samnee, evolving into their Whizzards incarnation.
After that, the group disbanded and some of their members assembled under Galahad’s lead as the Free Agents (Big Bang Comics # 4, Caliber Press, Feb. 1995).
Now, almost twenty years later, writer Pedro Angosto (critically acclaimed for his recent work with Earth-B Knights of Justice -it’s not hype, we got excellent reviews- in BIG BANG ADVENTURES # and artist Jorge Santamaría (of Avengers: Celestial Quest fame), pick up the story where it was left and follow Knight Watchman’s former sidekick Galahad in his search for identity, discover Cyclone’s (Overdrive) trauma after the death of his mentor, The Blitz, add four new heroes to the group (among them Jon Cosmos’s daughter and Venus’ sidekick) and send the new Whiz Kids line-up into a three chapter Arthurian Quest for the Holy Grail, also pursued by a dark new cabal of villains in a hearfelt homage to Wolfman & Pérez’s New Teen Titans run.

Big Bang Comics, celebrating Megaton Comics’ 40th anniversary, is more active than ever and has also released this two issues of their current series that will change the BIG BANG COMICS forever!
BIG BANG ADVENTURES #13: Megaton is summoned to a remote island where Ultiman, who the world thinks is dead, has been laying low since losing his super powers years previously. The Ultimate Human Being is concerned about some erratic behavior by his robots on the island and wants Megaton to check on the androids that are still in his sanctum in the Rocky Mountains. Also, Thunder Girl is amazed to discover a giant squid in a fountain in the town where she lives. It turns out to be the work of an old enemy known as Hydro, who has a body formed completely out of water with a mastery of the H2O. Finally, there is a role playing game based on a Venus story from the very first issue of Big Bang Comics published back in 1994 by Caliber Press. Stories by Gary Carlson. Art by Ron Charles Williams. Role Playing Game by Scott Casper.
ANOMALIES #2: The top-secret government team known as the ANOMALIES, young humans who were genetically mutated by exposure to the radioactive Element K which gave Ultiman his powers years earlier, were dropped onto an island fortress to rescue Victor Stalina (code name: Richter) who had been kidnapped by the underground organization known as T.A.R.O.T. The Anomalies, led by Victor’s older sister Anya Stalina (a.k.a. Inertia) successfully liberated him, only to be confronted by another team of enhanced humans: Terrie O’Hara (Sweet T), Bobby Topps (Black Ice) and Billie J. Jackson (White Lightnin’), collectively known as The Spoilers. Written by Chris Ecker. Art by Ron Charles Williams. Edited by Gary Carlson.
