Let’s get this right out of the way now. This comic is about Jimmy Regent, Britain’s number one super-spy. Not that other fellow that wears monogrammed shirts with the initials JB. That being said, both Jimmy’s have an amazing life. Intrigue, adventure, a license to kill and an absolute bevy of beautiful women ready and willing to jump in the sheets. But you know what? Some of those romantic interludes come with a price … and that price for Jimmy Regent is an army of children that have grown to resent their absentee father.
Jimmy’s Bastards #1 Interior Page
Garth Ennis, creator and writer of Preacher and The Boys, is penning this brand-new series being published by AfterShock Comics and available this June 14th, 2017.
We all sat there wondering at least once, just how many kids were conceived as the closing credits rolled? Well here is the answer. The opening sequence showing terrorists being defeated aboard a flaming air ship, the outrageous villains with brains in jars … the first few pages are a fairly intense ride. Just like the movies however, things settle down and we get a chance to see the obligatory secret spy gadget lab, get introduced to all the supporting cast including Jimmy’s new partner who doesn’t seem to have the highest of opinion for Jimmy’s antics. And then the kids show up …
I had a chance to read a black and white preview copy and Garth’s wit is as sharp as ever. Russ Braun’s line work is detailed and super clean. Very top notch as is befitting a title like this. I look forward to seeing the issue in colour.
