Created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, Asterix has delighted readers worldwide for generations with its blend of adventure, humor, and unforgettable characters. Goscinny, born in Paris in 1926, co-founded Pilote magazine in 1959, where Asterix first appeared, while Uderzo, born in France in 1927, shaped the series’ iconic look and energy. Together, they created one of the most successful comic series of all time.
Recently adapted for an animated Netflix miniseries, “Asterix and the Big Fight” is one of the most beloved stories of the fearless Gaul battling supposedly unbeatable odds to protect his tiny village from the Roman Empire. Now the story gets new prestige treatment with illuminating commentary and insights into the original story and illustrations.
The Romans are beginning to wise up!
