STAR WARS THEME WEEK OF SONGS FROM STAR WARS AUTHOR ANDY MANGELS

Best-Selling Star Wars author Andy Mangels dedicates a week of live songs to Star Wars, April 29-May 5, 2024!

At the start of 2024, best-selling comic and book author Andy Mangels embarked on a unique daily project; every day of 2024, he is releasing a song a day, sung live in one take, with no edits or processing. He alternates song styles daily: Mondays are Musicals, Tuesdays are Pop or Rock, Wednesdays are Disney, Thursdays are Country, Fridays are Comedy, Saturdays are Potpourri, and Sundays are Vintage. Now, for the week of May the 4th — traditionally celebrated as a holiday for Star Wars fans — Mangels is producing an entire week of LIVE Star Wars songs!

The schedule for Star Wars Theme Week (songs 120-126) follows:
• Monday, April 29th will be “Han’s Your Man,” a rare song from the unproduced 1993 Star Wars: The Musical by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams (Annie, Bye Bye Birdie).
• Tuesday is “Bounty,” a 2022 Boba Fett-themed rock song from NerdOut, and a celebration of Mangels’ work on Boba Fett which inspired The Mandalorian TV series.
• Wednesday is Yub Nub (Ewok Celebration), sung with lyrics in both Ewokese and Basic (English) from 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
• Thursday is “Storm Troopin’,” an ode to the Empire’s inept white armor-clad cannon fodder, written by Aloha From Space in 2021.
• Friday is “Yoda,” by Weird Al Yankovic from 1980, and based on The Kinks’ song “Lola.”
• Saturday is “If the Star Wars Cantina Song Had Lyrics,” a 2017 version of the infamous Cantina song by The Warp Zone, spotlighting the plight of droids in the Star Wars galaxy.
• Sunday is “Star Warrrrrrs,” a lounge version of John Williams’s main theme sung by Bill Murray in a 1978 episode of Saturday Night Live, and given extended lyrics by Andy Mangels.

“I saw Star Wars in 1977 when I was 10, when my Dad took me to a theatre in Polson, Montana,” says Mangels, “So I am an original Star Wars kid.” Mangels began writing Star Wars professionally in 1994, eventually penning the best-selling Star Wars: The Essential Guide To Characters book and the often-reprinted Boba Fett: Twin Engines of Destruction comic, along with text for sets of trading cards, Kenner action figures, fast food premiums, and much more from 1994-1998. The Boba Fett book was once voted by fans as the “Best Single Star Wars Comic” published, and elements of it were used (without credit) directly on The Mandalorian TV series.

Mangels has tied in the comic and genre world several times thus far in his 366 DAYS OF SONG project for 2024, and often wears comic-based shirts while singing:
