SLG Announces Kickstarter for “OMWO”

SLG Publishing, the iconic independent comics label known for championing alternative voices and groundbreaking creators producing such titles as GloomCookie and Jhonen Vasquez’ Johnny The Homicidal Maniac continues the celebration of its 40th year of independent publishing with the kickstarter launch of Rex Libris and Nil: A Land Beyond Belief creator James Turner’s latest masterwork, OMWO.

OMWO is the story of a doodle created during an excruciatingly long meeting that ultimately gains sapience alongside a cast of doodle characters that kicks off a Hero’s journey in search of meaning and purposeful existence while examining the internal crisis therein, acknowledging the absurdity and tragedy of that existence all the while struggling against the external forces of living, forging onward, and maintaining inexplicable faith even through moments of oppression and seemingly certain doom, all of which is set against the mind-bending backdrop of Turner’s form-shattering surrealist black and white doodlescape.

“We’ve all doodled during meetings. James Turner takes that idea and stretches it in a whole new direction with this new graphic novel that is as odd as it is visually stunning and pulls you into a world that is strange and familiar,” says SLG publisher Dan Vado. “It is an impressive addition to James’ library of graphic novels, several of which are also offered through this campaign.”

Turner’s Dragon Garage , a premiere edition of NilThe Book of Maggor Thoom, and the complete Rex Libris collection are also offered as add on rewards with exclusive pop up add ons possible throughout the remainder of the campaign.

OMWO represents the second offering from the company this year following their successful campaign for Don’t Call It A Comeback!, an anthology featuring some of the most memorable stories and iconic creators, (including Turner), from throughout SLG’s 40 years of independent comic book publishing, with more slated for release in 2026 in celebration of the label’s Ruby Jubilee.

“‘OMWO’ is an impressive addition to James Turner’s library of graphic novels available through SLG Publishing and I’m very proud to be adding OMWO to the books that we’re publishing during my 40th anniversary in comics,” praised Vado, who announced plans to expand SLG’s independent publishing and distribution initiatives earlier this year.
