Silverline, the comic book and graphic novel publisher founded by former Malibu Comics and Marvel Comics editor Roland Mann, has signed a distribution deal with PhilBo Distribution.
“We were stunned by the loss of Diamond as a reliable distribution partner,” Mann said. “We’ve been shopping around for a strong replacement, and I’m pleased to partner with Phil and Philbo Distribution.”
In the current Philbo catalog, Philviews, Silverline has two titles available. The first is sci-fi/action story Kayless, written by Brent Larson with art by Luis Czerniawski and Leandro Huergo. The second is The Mantus Files, a trade paperback collection of the black and white mini-series written by horror novelist Sidney Williams.
Both issues will ship in March. “The issues are completed and ready to go,” Mann said. “Digital files are already at Ka-Blam for printing.”
Silverline Comics publishes several titles a year through the traditional direct market as well as through crowdfunding. “Our books are already completed before we solicit anything to comic shops,” Mann said. “That’s how we can guarantee on-time delivery to the stores.”

Mann founded Silverline many years ago out of a love of comics and stories. “The great thing about running an independent comic book company is that I don’t have to pitch,” he said. “I can make my own comics and publish comics with my friends.”
Philbo follows a similar principal. “I got tired of the gatekeepers deciding who had a chance to experience the direct market,” Russertt said. “Knowing Diamond was about to collapse I decided to be part of the solution as best as I can.” Philbo carries titles from more than 25 direct market publishers. Any retailers new to Philbo can order comics from earlier catalogs as well.
