RUDY NEBRES Inkwell Awards Fundraiser Event Scheduled

(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New Bedford, MA/USA—May 1, 2025) The 501(c)(3) non-profit Inkwell Awards, devoted to promoting the art of comic book inking, after having released the list of artists participating in its eighth annual Sinnott Inking Challenge Spotlight on March 2 along with its history, can now announce the dates that these pages will be on the Inkwell’s eBay store auction block. This year’s Challenge features legendary creator RUDY NEBRES take on 2 generic sword & sorcery/pulp characters, the kind of which he was known for rendering but without the approval of the current license holder to specify identities, which is why this time there’s no logos. This year’s event is the first to incorporate two versions, one with tight pencils (“Angry Jungle Warrioress” or “AJW”) and the other breakdowns (“Jungle Lord” or “JL”), a tribute to the original format that Joe Sinnott would follow when he was actively rendering a rotating roster of characters from 2011 until 2018. Ultimately, 14 veteran, mainstream artists participated to support this educational and fundraising program, turning in their interpretations of his blueline drawing, printed up on board, using one or the other or both versions. A gif of submitted images is attached below.

*Wave 1 will launch on Saturday, May 3 and will include the following nine pages:

Don Ho: AJW / JL
Kevin Kobasic: AJW / JL (2 for a Lot)
Mark McKenna: AJW
Dan Parsons: JL
Mark Stegbauer: AJW
Jonas Trindade: AJW
Keith Williams: AJW
*WAVE 2 will launch on Saturday, May 17 and include the following eight pages:
JL Straw: AJW
LeBeau Underwood: AJW
Kevin Conrad: JL
Geof Isherwood: AJW
Oclair Albert: AJW
Michelle Delecki: JL
Sergio Cariello: AJW / JL

All pages will be signed by Rudy Nebres as well as the respective ink artists. They will come with a signed & numbered certificate of authenticity and the art will be labeled as being officially part of this popular annual event. Bidding will start at $74.99 for high-end items and $49.99 for lower end items and $64.99 for in-between ranges. “These blueline inks are an affordable way to own Rudy’s art which are priced much higher for the serious comic art market of collectors. At 88 years, Rudy’s available original art has been selling and reducing his inventory of pages and while he still does commissions, that will only be true for so long” Bob shared. “Please support us on this essential fundraiser and show your love for the decades that Rudy has entertained his fans and admirers. Special thanks to Rudy’s agent, Anthony Isaza and Inkwell senior contributors, Ray Burke and Mike Prast for their participation in this event, Kevin Conrad for the talent suggestion and especially Rudy and all the bidders and social media sharers who supported us.

The Inkwell Awards is the only official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and educate regarding the art form of comic-book inking, as well as annually recognize the best ink artists and their work. Established in 2008, the Inkwells are overseen by a volunteer committee of industry professionals and assisted by various professional ambassadors and contributors. They sponsor the Dave Simons Inkwell Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Kubert School and host the Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame Award.
