Comments: The narrator is a vampire with a pet raven. The setting for the narrated tale is a concentration camp in Germany. There is a pianist, Jerom, who gives an almost perfect performance. Yet he wishes he were not there, a prisoner and forced to miss his son’s birthday. Yes, you will feel his suffering. He does love his son Adam more than anything. His suffering only increases.
The Nazi’s bring evil into this world, and their actions bring forth retaliation as the Golem rises. The Golem is hell bent on revenge. It is a colossus of destruction. The Golem does carry out his rage on the Nazi’s who caused him so much grief.
The black and white art gorgeously presents this sad tale in a ten-page comic. The Golem is a silent, raging engine of destruction.
This issue is full of emotions of love and hate. The Golem does what he does because of both of these. He can not be stopped. The mythology of this creature is touched upon.
The vampire narrator closes this story nicely with a twist.
