Comments: Space Ghost deals with some of the Antimatter Man’s possessed victims early on, but this portion feels drawn out and a bit dull. Eventually, Space Ghost prepares to face the Antimatter Man head-on. As the danger escalates, the conflict comes down to one critical moment: a black hole may be forming. The Antimatter Man realizes his mistake and understands that only family truly matters. Power means nothing when compared to the love of family.
Jan and Jace’s grandfather confronts his darkest demons, and he wins. The good within him overcomes the evil. Power may corrupt absolutely, but love can still shine through.
Space Ghost’s antimatter armor looks impressive, though his classic suit is still the better design.
This issue leans more into themes of family and love than all-out action. Jan and Jace experience a loss, and Jan is especially affected. She knows her grandfather loved her, and that emotional weight carries through the story.
That said, Space Ghost could have been used more in the fight scenes. There is too much standing around and talking among the characters. The Antimatter Man, as depicted in the art, doesn’t look particularly menacing. Even as a black silhouette, he could have been made more visually threatening.
Still, Space Ghost does what he always does, he pushes himself to his limits and ultimately finds a way to triumph.
