Comments: Five years in the past children and dogs have been killed. Erica is there to kill a monster. The monster got some baby dogs and it is a touching scene as the mother has the one she saved with her. Erica treats the mother and baby with a companion.
Erica must use the puppy as bait. Meanwhile, The mother stands by, and you can feel her fear and trust in Erica. The monster comes and Erica Slaughter shows us why she is named Slaughter. The actual fight is skipped over. It would have been nice to see more of it as there was a nice long build-up to it.
The life of a slayer of monsters is a lonely one. This story makes you feel sorry for Erica and also happy that she is out there to stop the monsters. We do get a good look at Erica here. She has a soft side which she does not let get in her way when it comes to monsters.
The art is dark as fits the story. Erica is illustrated with one big eye showing which adds weirdness to her character. She still maintains a look of innocence about her. Yet you will feel her confidence and just know how tough this thin blonde young woman is. Her attitude is adorable.
