Comments: Zenobia and Regina are locked in a hard-hitting boxing match. Marian, who used to be a prizefighter, now lives a life far different from her past. The fight scenes are illustrated to emphasize just how tough these two women are.

As Marian learns more about witches, she slowly begins making a friend in Ravenna, a head witch. Sister Marian has also seen the Holy Mother, not as a spirit, but as a woman. Eventually, Marian decides to join the witches in a strike against the men of the church, most of whom are cruel, heartless “servants of God.” The creatures used to attack these men are demonic in nature, though their origins are never fully explained.

While Marian may have found another ally, the story feels like it needs more substance; the minimal character building isn’t quite enough. Furthermore, the present-day fighting scenes involving Sister Marian should have been longer and more detailed. Though Marian mentions the “Mother,” the story leaves the reader unsure of her true identity. Ultimately, Marian must decide what she truly wants to do with her life.
