Comments: “Part 1 Wood to Metal: Early Era to 1910.s” Here you will learn all about printing and the materials used, and what was printed. You learn a lot about newspapers from their printed pages.
The explanations are hard to follow unless you already have an idea about what is involved in printing comic strips.
“Part 2 The Reign of Metal: 1920s – 1950s.” There is a lot of hard work involved in getting comics printed. Syndication and how it works is a funny illustration of it for you to see. As you do not believe all the steps to getting a completed comic strip in a newspaper.
“Part 3 Picture This: 1960s – 1970s” As time goes by, the process keeps improving.
The cartoon illustrations throughout the book from the past are beautiful works.
You will even learn what a flong is in these pages.
So many great comic strips were created.
“Part 4 Flatland: 1980s – 1990s” Yes, the comic being printed was laid out flat now. Using color in comics was and is more expensive than just black and white. In this era, coloring became digitized.
“Part 5 Pixel Perfect: 2000s Onwar.d” N, now the computer became involved. The digital process did speed things up. Computers and the Internet certainly have changed things.
All the terms and technical talk are hard to follow if you do not already have an idea about what is being talked about. It is very informative. The writer knows what they are talking about. The illustrations from the past are wonderful to see.
