Comments: “Inner D-Man”
A hockey player is on top of the world, then falls from grace and ends up in the minors. The art is cartoonish. There isn’t much to the story: the player is influenced by an evil force, goes along with it, and it leads to his demise.
“I Can’t Take You Anywhere”
These one-panel stories are cute, but not frightening.
“Sauna 24”
A troubled woman goes to a spa, wanders around, and ends up crawling into a hole in the wall. Why? What is the purpose? There is no explanation or reason. The art is subdued, mostly in greys and black. The girl is drawn cute, but that’s about it.
“Afters”
The art lacks detail, and the shading looks odd—especially on the skin. The story is about dreams, but there’s no real build-up and not much of a narrative. You’re left wondering why.
“Cassie, Part One”
A girl tries out for a small-time baseball team in a small town. She has attitude and is drawn very cute. The other players on the team seem off somehow—but so does she. The coach is something else entirely. This story does create a scary atmosphere. The city girl is a frightening character, and she may be more than she seems.
