Comments: This massive volume collects issues one through twenty-five, totaling an impressive 592 pages. Unfortunately, the lettering is blurry, making it almost impossible to read at times. That said, when Godzilla appears, he is portrayed as a true force of nature—even when simply swimming underwater, you can feel his sheer power. Godzilla is featured in a massive battle against another kaiju, alongside the military. As more monsters arrive, the visuals become even more spectacular. Mothra appears to aid Godzilla, and nearly every kind of kaiju imaginable shows up throughout these pages. Jet Jaguar teams up with Godzilla, and together they enter the fray. Godzilla faces a wide variety of kaiju, delivering nonstop, incredible monster action. Mecha-Godzilla alone is a formidable threat—but facing more than one raises the stakes even higher. Aliens are also part of the story, but due to the blurry lettering, it’s difficult to understand their role beyond their visual design. Godzilla absolutely comes across as the true King of the Monsters. There is a large cast of characters, all illustrated beautifully. The soldiers look like hardened warriors, and the Shobijin—the tiny twin fairies of Mothra—are especially charming. It would have been great to read their dialogue and learn more about them. The all-out monster battle is truly out of this world. Godzilla proves his dominance, showing every monster that he is the most powerful—and earning their respect in the process.
