Comments: This story starts sad as one little girl’s dog Pirate has passed away. Danni at school gets a new teacher Miss Pallas teaching mythology. Danni is one observant girl.
Danni and her brother Sammy somehow fall down a hole and end up in Hades. Her adventure has begun. She came here for a reason even if it was by accident. Danni is on a Challenge and she may not know exactly how yet she accepts it with a child’s innocence.
Danni’s Quest seems to fall into place as she continues to Hades. She gets Odysseus to join her. There is not much of her trying as there is of her just being given what she wants. The story is an all-ages one and the art is for a young audience. There are updates to how the ancient Greek characters and settings look. The battle with Medusa does not go as you might think.
The attacking skeletons add some needed violence to this book. Since they are only skeletons there is no blood or gore.
Hades seems like a very nice person. He is not though. He acts nice yet his actions say differently.
The story moves along so smoothly one scene going to the next. Danni is such a delightful little girl with an attitude way bigger than most.
The art has a cute side and even the monsters do not seem all that scary. For this type of story, they are done just right. The twists to their characters that update them are wonderful to see.
You will feel for Danni as she faces things that she should not have to. You will be routing for her and her new friends.
The adventure does not end here it continues next issue. Make sure you’re here for it.
