Two Fremen are practicing their crysknife skills. A mother and her son, Mapes, train well together.
The Fremen hate the Harkonnens and attack them whenever they can. The Harkonnens have invaded the Fremen’s planet and their desert. The Fremen talk about killing the Harkonnens, yet the hatred and anger are not fully conveyed through either the story or the artwork.
Arrakeen Residency: A Fremen woman makes for a quiet and effective spy as she moves through the background unnoticed. She is exceptionally skilled at her work. Even Lord Harkonnen suspects nothing.
Arrakeen Subsidiary Spaceport, Outer Fringe: The Fremen continue to fight back, but their attacks are too small to draw much attention. Fremen leader Samos has a bold plan that will finally get them noticed. It is a daring strategy that requires a true leader and a person of action to carry it out.
Arrakeen Residency: One governor departs and another arrives. Baron Vladimir Harkonnen is now here, and things are about to change.
Arrakis, Desert Planet: Arrakis is the most important planet in the Imperium because it is the source of the Spice Melange. The Fremen are illustrated with striking blue eyes, and the architecture and spacecraft have a strong, distinctive design.
The Fremen launch another attack against the Harkonnens, and then a sandworm is summoned. It is an impressive and memorable sight.
The Fremen devise a plan to defeat the Harkonnens, led by a mother and daughter. These women are tough, determined, and formidable fighters.
Carthag, Headquarters of Governor Dmitri Harkonnen: Mapes proves to be an excellent spy for the Fremen, moving about unnoticed. However, the information she gathers does not produce the desired results. Although she fails in one mission, she immediately undertakes another, this time alone. It is a sad moment when she is unable to complete her mission.
Governor Dmitri Harkonnen is a greedy and sadistic man whose cruelty has made him completely uncaring. Mapes, by contrast, cares deeply. She exemplifies what it truly means to be a Fremen.
