Comments: The recap of the previous series is done in a short, concise manner, and the art beautifully illustrates it.
Brier Rose and Spider are enjoying each other’s company as they have a respite from danger. It is nice to see two young girls in love and having fun.
Briar Rose is drawn to look as mulike as a male as a female. It would work better with her as more female.
An ominous castle is shown, and its setting leaves no doubt that you would never want to go there. Within, we see the Protectress, and this witch reeks of evil.
The four travelers must flee as an army of Norish soldiers attacks the city and chases Spider. These warriors are of the same race as Spider. They arrive at the Traps. Yes, this is drawn as a place of death.
The Protectress prepares to kill Briar Rose as she increases her power, power enough to kill her own daughter. Grendrid the Protectress stands ready, and her insane evil just oozes from the pages.
