Comments: Sarah Woods, a reporter, is driving down a dark country road late at night. When she later wakes up at home, she discovers she has a most unexpected houseguest.

Charlie is introduced next, and we follow him for a while, though these scenes are fairly dull. He is involved in something top secret and has a cute girlfriend. This lieutenant colonel also happens to be Sarah’s ex.

Sarah and Sven sit in her apartment as Sven explains why he is on Earth—and the news is not good. An invasion is already underway. Sarah is dealing with her own personal issues, while Sven is focused on saving the planet.

Soon, one of the fungus people knocks on Sarah’s door. The alien has a genuinely frightening appearance, something you would expect to see in a horror or sci-fi movie.

Sven, however, is illustrated very plainly. He appears as little more than a groundhog walking around, with nothing particularly distinctive about his design.

Despite the chaos, Sven and Sarah quickly seem to hit it off. For a human suddenly thrown into a life-altering adventure—one that could easily end with her being eaten by a Fungoidian—Sarah adapts surprisingly well. Sven does get some action as he tangles with the Fungoidian, and together they handle the situation as best they can. After all, this is only the beginning of the end of Sarah’s world.
