First Comics News: Why was Summit Comics formed?
Brian Wolf: We were all already making Superhero Comics and releasing them through Kickstarter. CJ Hudson asked in a Discord server what if we just shared a universe? That conversation led to Summit Comics. Here we are, about seven months later, with a huge Graphic Novel to kickstart the universe.
1st: What does a Marketing Director at Summit Comics do?
Brian: I had to help create core branding for Summit. And then create a strategy, first to bring on followers through our Social Media and our website/newsletter. And I’ve been building a structure that we can all use even beyond Pinnacle. We’re going to have many campaigns, and I’m going to treat each one like it were my own. That’s video, press, posts, everything we need.

1st: What is “Upheaval” about?
Brian: It’s about a young woman who uses her innate tech abilities; she can control drones with her mind. She’s unraveling the mystery of her life and going up against interesting high-tech villains.
1st: Why should a comic book reader read “Upheaval?”
Brian: I think Poppi, the main character, is a wonderful person. She’s smart, but vulnerable. She’s in over her head, but that’s what makes her special.

1st: What is the story in “The Go to Guys”
Brian: Two men, one super genius and one ultra tough, go up against giant Sub-Terrestrial creatures. One catch: they hate each other. Brought together to create a business, and the whole thing may have been done by the man who experimented on them when they were teenagers.
1st: Which character in “The Go to Guys” did you have the most fun drawing?
Brian: It’s the Giant insects I like drawing the most.

1st: What did you contribute to “Summit: Pinnacle”
Brian: I wrote and drew the Go To Guys. But I also drew the Upheaval story in the book.
1st: Why is “Summit Comics” special?
Brian: It’s a brand new entry to a new universe, but with an Indie Comic sensibility. We’re not owned by corporations, we just want to tell stories.
1st: What is it about seeing a comic book that you worked on that is so great to you personally?
Brian: I think I’ll always love having it printed and in my hand, but more than that, it is sharing with an audience.
1st: What are you going to be working on next?
Brian: The Go To Guys will be featured this year in their own book or a part of the Summit Presents series, being serialized. I’m also drawing the next three Upheaval issues written by Travis Gibb.

1st: Do you think joining Summit Comics will be your greatest achievement in comics?
Brian: It’s the biggest step I’ve taken, for sure.
1st: If you could have the superpowers of one Summit character, which one would it be and why?
Brian: I think my character, Lonnie Nguyen, is fascinating. His ability to build cryptic technology sets him apart. He’s a big reason I love the Go to Guys.
1st: How are Scout and Dodger doing?
Brian: Chasing each other around, daily.
1st: Do you have anything to say to fans of your work?
Brian: I just want you to follow Summit, because we’re not going anywhere.
