This year’s “Space Ghost” annual concludes the current Dax/Jace & Jan storyline while introducing the series to new territory in an exciting way. It opens with Space Ghost and the Twins mourning recent heavy losses. The heroes, still grieving, must push themselves into action to stop a galaxy-wide heist by a master thief named Magnus, aided by a mysterious, reality-warping alien that threatens destruction. Space Ghost wrestles with internal conflicts, trying to forgive his past failures before this new, mind-bending threat destroys everything.
The creative team of David Pepose and Jonathan Lau continues to excel, balancing melodrama with explosive action. Space Ghost’s guilt over risking Jan and Jace adds depth to the external crises, making him a well-rounded character beyond the 1960s cartoon. Magnus and The Alien are fleshed out as more than forgettable villains, adding complexity. Lau’s art captures the series’ brooding, cosmic tone, with expressive faces that convey deep emotion and dynamic action. This annual exemplifies Space Ghost’s timeless heroism and recognizes his ongoing cultural significance. While it wraps up season 2 ahead of an upcoming crossover (**NO SPOILERS**), we hope Dynamite keeps Pepose and Lau collaborating for more great Space Ghost stories.
