Red Roots # 2

Letterer: Rus Wooten
Cover Date: May 2026
Rating: 08/10
Building on the events from the first issue, the second installment of “Red Roots” follows high school teacher Kate as her day is turned upside down, while what little remains of the killer’s life, who is introduced in this issue, takes an unexpected, nightmarish turn. She encounters Sand, a tactical, militant special ops agent whose life has fallen apart. Both are captives of a being named Grit and do their best to escape their strange new world. The issue shifts quickly from horror to a supernatural tone, offering no clear resolution as De Felici keeps his cards close, revealing only bits and pieces of this mysterious story. His skillful blending of mystery, suspense, and humor creates a captivating yet creepy atmosphere, and rather than rushing with fast pacing, De Felici immerses readers in the sci-fi and supernatural elements, using eerie layouts and coloring that enrich the tone. Although the structure feels light and easy to read—perhaps unintentionally—it remains a compelling mystery. The connections between Kate, the Killer, and the mysterious decapitated heads appearing in her apartment continue to develop across future installments, making this series a captivating read for fans.
