This issue offers a deep exploration of Jesus, a slaughterhouse worker struggling to make ends meet after his father’s death, who unexpectedly finds himself fluctuating between reality and hallucination while performing his job. The series once again elevates the complexities of time and space, but this specific premise is somewhat overlooked until the end of the issue, allowing the themes of life and death to take precedence. While this isn’t entirely negative, the noticeable disconnection between reality and hallucinations could alienate readers, particularly those who enjoyed the first issue, and it’s concerning that some plot threads appear unresolved. Nevertheless, the courageous storytelling addresses social issues like animal cruelty and immortality with significant depth and raw emotion, even amidst the graphic slaughterhouse scenes. It may be a challenging read, but ultimately, it is a narrative that demands your attention, thanks to its blend of social commentary and chilling theoretical horror.
