Newcomer writer Nick Ward, artist Marcelo Santana (Kid Switch, Sinless Society, Downgrades), and letterer Keith Gleason (Mighty Mascots, Hero Envy, Kid Switch) come together for the reality-faring sci-fi adventure, Peculiar. This first issue in the brand-new series is fully complete and launching its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter on March 3, 2026.
The main crew is backed by variant covers from Marvel Snap artist and oil painter, Kai Lun Qu, and up-and-coming artist Jake Lasher, who has done work for Upper Deck.
The bloodthirsty assassin of a secret interdimensional governing force, The Filter, lives to relish her kills, racing across universes to get the next one; she is living her twisted dream. But what seems like a routine mission suddenly turns sour: The Assassin? Arrested for murder by her colleagues—though she would use that term very loosely—on the other side of The Filter’s enforcement.
The Assassin has been arrested for murder, and it’s one she knows she hasn’t committed. You better believe she won’t go lightly.
“I love stories where the characters know the Oz behind the curtain,” explained Ward. “What does that mean for them? How does all that knowledge affect someone? Does it drive them insane, do they discover their purpose, or something else entirely? Probably all three, that’s some of what I wanted to explore in Peculiar.”
The series strips the interdimensional agent of her former glory, promising to be Burn Notice x Crisis on Infinite Earths. Peculiar is an action-packed experience you won’t want to miss.
Peculiar #1 will be available via its Kickstarter campaign beginning on Tuesday, March 3rd and running for thirty days:
