BAD IDEA is proud to announce that Academy Award and Emmy-nominated writer, actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani, star of Marvel Studios’ ETERNALS, OBI-WAN KENOBI and THE BIG SICK, has joined Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian, Danny Elfmanand Seth Green in the star-studded voice cast of IT DEMANDS SACRIFICE: RECORD READ-A-LONG, accompanying the October 21st release of IT DEMANDS SACRIFICE #1 by Philip Gelatt (LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS) and David Yarovesky(BRIGHTBURN).
Nanjiani has built a wide-ranging career that spans acclaimed comedy, drama, science fiction and beloved pop culture franchises. He joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kingo in ETERNALS, entered the STAR WARS universe as Haja Estree in OBI-WAN KENOBI, ventured into the wasteland as Xander Harkness for FALLOUT, and enlisted as Nadeem Razmaadi in GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE. He will next check into HBO’s Emmy-winning phenomenon THE WHITE LOTUS as part of the ensemble cast of its upcoming fourth season. His television credits also includes six seasons as Dinesh Chugtai on HBO’s Emmy-winning SILICON VALLEY, as well as THE TWILIGHT ZONE, THE X-FILES, PORTLANDIA, ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING and WELCOME TO CHIPPENDALES, the latter earning Nanjiani an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor.
As a writer, Nanjiani co-wrote and starred in the acclaimed THE BIG SICK, based on the true story of his relationship with his wife and co-writer Emily V. Gordon. The film was named one of AFI’s top ten films of the year and earned Nanjiani and Gordon an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
Nanjiani is also no stranger to stepping behind the microphone. He voices the fan-favorite cosmic entity Prismo in ADVENTURE TIME, starred as Mack Mallard in Illumination’s MIGRATION, voiced Pawny in MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL, Jay in THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE, and reprised his Marvel role as Kingo in WHAT IF…? He recently entered the gloriously violent world of THE BOYS as Vik in the animated anthology THE BOYS PRESENTS: DIABOLICAL. His voice work also extends into the world of video games, with roles in THE WALKING DEAD, MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA and MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF WAR, and he is set to appear in Naughty Dog’s upcoming INTERGALACTIC: THE HERETIC PROPHET.
Nanjiani’s connection to comics also extends behind the camera. He is currently co-creating, writing, executive producing and serving as showrunner on Amazon Prime’s upcoming adaptation of SEXCRIMINALS, the acclaimed Image Comics series by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, in which Nanjiani will also appear.
Nanjiani will play Bronson, the littlest goat of the family and the story’s lead.
