Michael Desharnais Talks about MARSHAL STRONG #3

Michael Desharnais is back with Marshal Strong #3. As you may or may not recall, Michael Desharnais’ Commando joined the G-Men on day one with me, and I’m excited to see what he has planned for this next issue of Marshal Strong.

First Comics News: For new readers, who is Marshal Strong?

Michael Desharnais: Marshal Strong is the leader of APEX, the first team of Meta-human heroes created by the US government as part of a top-secret military program.

1st: Do you have to have read issues 1 and 2 to understand Marshall Strong #3?

Michael: Well, issues #1 and #2 definitely will help give the reader a fuller picture of what has happened to Marshal and why he has been M.I.A., but the issue can be enjoyed as a stand-alone as well and is easy to follow.

1st: Are issues 1 and 2 available in this campaign?

Michael: Yes! All back issues are available as add-ons under the “Any back issue” heading. All issues and back issues are available in both digital and physical editions.

1st: How many issues are in the first arc?

Michael: The first story arc consists of four issues. Issues #3 and #4 are already fully completed!

1st: Can you describe the central conflict of Marshal Strong #3?

Michael: Marshal Strong has been out of commission since the climactic battle with the Secret Shogun in Issue #1 (with Issue #2 serving mostly as a flashback). Now, in Issue #3, Marshal faces two very different battles: his internal fight to overcome the mental scars of his meta-human transformation and near-death experience, and an unexpected external threat powerful enough to annihilate APEX.

1st: How does Marshal Strong evolve as a character in this chapter?

Michael: Marshal watched as his teammates were overwhelmed and fell before the awesome power of the Secret Shogun. Moments later, he experienced firsthand what it’s like to feel your life slipping away and the cold embrace of death. Marshal returns with a greater sense of his responsibility as a leader not only for his team, but for the entire direction of APEX as a whole.

1st: Are there any new characters introduced?

Michael: Yes! Multiple new heroes and villains are introduced in this issue.

1st: What’s your favorite visual moment in the comic?

Michael: This issue has several visual moments that I absolutely love. Elton Thomasi did such a wonderful job on this issue. There were so many different elements packed into this story: futuristic technology, military hardware, ultra-powerful characters, space travel, creepy villains, and Elton nailed all of it. I won’t give anything away, but there’s a splash page that really packs a wallop!

1st: What would you say to readers who are discovering Marshal Strong for the first time with this issue?

Michael: If you like kick-ass, old-school comics featuring likable heroes, tons of powers, and action-packed storytelling (with the occasional damsel in distress!), then you’ve come to the right place. At just $5 digitally or $10 for a physical copy, we’ve made it easy to give us a try. Everyone at ThunderZone Comics sincerely thanks all those who’ve taken a chance on us and shown their support.
